NiKo finally has his Major title after 17 tries, Falcons didn't drop a map in the final, and Valve's post-Major patch just reshuffled the competitive map pool.
Falcons beat FURIA 3-0 in the IEM Cologne 2026 grand final on June 21, closing out Mirage, Anubis, and Inferno by the same 13-8 scoreline each time. FURIA came into the final unbeaten through the playoffs. It didn't matter — Falcons never trailed.

Nikola “NiKo” Kovač has been called the best player never to win a Major for most of the past decade. Cologne was his 17th attempt, and it finally landed. In-game leader Finn “karrigan” Andersen picked up his second Major title in the process — his first with Falcons, after leaving FaZe in April, his only roster move since 2021. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, 21, took home his first Major win and tournament MVP.
Falcons beat three former Major champions on the way to the final — NAVI, Vitality, and Spirit — which is why several outlets covering the event ranked this grand final among the most talent-stacked in Counter-Strike history, alongside ELEAGUE Boston 2018 and PGL Antwerp 2022.
The event ran a 16-team bracket at Cologne's LANXESS Arena from June 11-21, following earlier online stages that began June 2, for a total prize pool of $1,170,000. Falcons took $500,000 for first; FURIA finished second. The grand final peaked at 2.75 million concurrent viewers, a new record for the event.
Valve's post-Major patch pulled four maps from the competitive, casual, and deathmatch rotation — Warden, Stronghold, Alpine, and Sanctum — and replaced them with three community maps: Boulder, Fachwerk, and Shelter. Wingman picked up two additions, Debris and El Dorado. A few existing maps also got fixes: Cache had several holes patched and grenade clipping simplified, Dust II fixed a clipping issue near Outside Tunnel, and Inferno closed a pixel-boost exploit at Top Mid.
The Major-themed cosmetics shipped alongside it — Champions Autograph Stickers, Highlight Souvenir Charms covering all six stages plus the trophy lift — all available in the Cologne 2026 Shop through September 29.
