PUBG Adds the RPD LMG and a Full Reload Buff for the Class

Update 42.3 also introduces PUBG: Playgrounds, a new creative-mode hub for community-made content on PC.

KRAFTON shipped Update 42.3 for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on PC August 11, with console following August 20. The headline addition is a new light machine gun, the RPD — a fully automatic 7.62mm weapon dealing 43 damage per hit at 750 rounds per minute, compatible with scopes up to 6x, spawning across every map.

The RPD isn't arriving alone. KRAFTON cut reload times across the entire LMG class by 25% in the same update, a meaningful buff for a weapon category that's historically been left out of PUBG's late-game meta because of how punishing its reloads were relative to its damage output.

A New Way to Play

PUBG: Playgrounds is the other major piece of this update — a new PC-only creative-mode hub where players can browse and jump into community-created content directly from the Play menu, without needing to hunt down custom lobbies or third-party tools. It's PUBG's clearest move yet toward the kind of creator-driven content ecosystem other battle royales have leaned on for years.

A new Survivor Pass also launched alongside the August Store Update, running in parallel with the patch.

Worth Knowing

This update is part of a broader "Meta Rotation" push KRAFTON outlined earlier in August, aimed at keeping PUBG's gunplay feeling like a living ecosystem rather than a static weapon list. If LMGs have felt like a trap pick in recent matches, this is the update where that's meant to change.

Update 42.3 is live now on PC; console rollout begins August 20, 2026.
