Operation Split Fire launches September 1 with a new Egyptian Defender built to burn shield operators out of position, plus a Ranked overhaul and a permanent 3v3 mode.
Ubisoft revealed Rainbow Six Siege's next season, Operation Split Fire, on August 15 ahead of the Esports World Cup 2026 grand final. It's Year 11 Season 3, and the headline addition is Siege's first new Defender since Denari: an Egyptian operator named Noor.
Noor's gadget, the Horus Lance, is a projectile that attaches to a ballistic shield or a solid surface and then emits flames — a direct answer to a problem the community has been asking Ubisoft to address for years. Shield operators have had no real hard counter beyond raw gunskill; Noor gives Defenders a gadget built specifically to force a shield player out of position or off their shield entirely.

Split Fire isn't just a new operator. A permanent Legend Division arrives for Ranked, exclusive to Champion-rank players, alongside a new limited-time 3v3 mode in the Arcade playlist. Villa gets a targeted map update. On the balance side, Lion, Dokkaebi, Echo, Kapkan, and Kali are all getting loadout or ability adjustments, and DMRs alongside the SMG-12 are due for a nerf pass.
The season launches September 1, 2026, and will run through the BLAST R6 Major in Osaka this November — the event where Year 11's next season will be presented.
Shield play has been a recurring balance complaint in Siege for a long time, and Ubisoft has largely responded with small numeric tweaks rather than a gadget purpose-built to counter it. Noor is the first operator whose entire kit is framed around that specific problem, which makes her one of the more consequential meta additions in recent seasons rather than a straightforward power-level Defender.
